Case Study Diagrams

Marlon Blackwell’s L-Stack House is a beautiful two part personal residence that acts as a bridge spanning over the site-transecting creek. The exterior materiality consists of a rot resistent brazilian redwood, steel, and glass. An incredible overhanging second floor displays hierarchy with how it guides the eyes up initially and acts as a private section distinct from the more open concept first floor. The transition between the spaces happens in the featured staircase where the whole design is centered around. Lastly, a direct path exists through the offset front door leading straight to the staircase that acts as the vertical axis while the downstairs fireplace and kitchen island sets the horizontal axis through the middle of the space.
